LRNCE
Belgian by birth, Marrakchi by every other measure.
Laurence Leenaert arrived in Marrakech in 2013 with a sewing machine and started with leather bags. Today LRNCE, which she runs with Ayoub Boualam, works with a network of more than forty artisans on ceramics in Safi terracotta, woven textiles, furniture and art, and was named Decorex Africa’s Designer of the Year for 2026.
Visit the studio and shop in Sidi Ghanem, the city’s industrial quarter, then stay inside the world at Riad Rosemary in the medina.
The look is instantly recognisable: hand-drawn faces, eyes and moons in ochre, ink-blue and terracotta, softened by the irregularity of handmade work. It is playful, but the craft underneath is serious.
Sidi Ghanem is worth an afternoon in its own right. Several design studios and showrooms sit within a few streets of each other.
